DIY Packing Tips That Save

Do it yourself shipping crates – An easy option to contain your move
If there is one thing that gets on everybody’s nerves when moving, and it’s the sheer amount of boxes and stuff that have to be moved around in the process of moving. You can get shipping crates, which are pretty good value in terms of capacity and security for your load, commercially. They will save you plenty of time and money that you can put towards some great TV bundles instead.
You can also make them yourself, if you know how.

Shipping crates are made out of equal lengths of wood. Each side of the shipping crate is assembled separately, simply nailing horizontal lumber to vertical supports. You then simply nail the crate together into a box. Basically, you build a skeleton of a box with 2x4s, and then you nail sheets of plywood to the exterior to seal the edges of the box.

Is Your Moving Checklist Long Enough?

Moving to a new home can
be a difficult transition, even when it’s across the street. For some people, they may have a never-ending to-do list of services that they need: movers, packers, planners, and other specialists are able to quickly move you from one place to another, but they often charge a pretty high price to do so.
On the flip side, you have the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mover; someone who wants to move to their new home with no help from anyone. This can be a great, money-saving idea, but is it right for you? If you are one of the two types of people below, then it just might be.

The Planner
If you’re a planner, the DIY move is one that you can probably handle yourself. While you may be more comfortable making lists and checking them twice, planning a solo move eliminates the one thing that causes most moves to fail: lack of planning. If you aren’t comfortable winging it, then it’s much more likely that you will have success moving to a new home by yourself. After all, your moving checklist has a checklist.
